We had a wonderful Independence Day up in little ol', but ever wonderful McCammon, Idaho for the Green Family Reunion 2011. This was my first time attending the reunion as an actual Green, which I was grateful that I did not have to be "the girlfriend." Dallin's older brother's girlfriend got that privilege this year.

We arrived late Friday night, welcomed by aerial fireworks being set off by his cousins in Grandma Green's pasture. After which we set up our tent and made camp in the yard for the night.
Saturday morning, we were woken by the beautiful squawking of a magpie at 5:30am (catch the sarcasm?) that really sounded like a chipmunk having a seizure. When we finally decided the bird did not have a snooze button about an hour later, we were greeted with a hot breakfast. The rest of the day was filled with horse/mule back riding, shotgun shooting (yes, I shot a 12 gage without pain until the next day when I notice a bruise on my shoulder with wonderment as to where it came from), quilt tying for the woman's shelter in Pocatello and a flag ceremony presented by the men who currently or have served in the military. Most of the family left Saturday evening, leaving a few at Grandma Green's to enjoy her company and stories.

Sunday, we woke up to our little magpie friend, went to church, then spent the remainder of the day watching the old movies the boys grew up on when they would visit grandma and grandpa, intermixed with walks around little McCammon. The two we watched were firsts for me including, "El dorado" with John Wayne (my first John Wayne movie) and "Hoosiers." Very relaxing little weekend.

We returned to Salt Lake Monday evening, just in time for the firework show at the park behind our house. Hundreds of Salt Lake residents attend this firework show, which makes our neighborhood a little traffic induced. However, we did not have to battle with the people and cars. We simply pulled some chairs across the street to join our neighbors on the side of the rode to watch the show. Did not even have to change our of our weekend pants.

This past week, one of my little guy's dad gave the center free tickets to see American Idol in concert. None of us have really followed American Idol since the first season, but hey, when free stuff comes around you don't just pass it up! My co-worker, her little girl and I went and had a quite enjoyable time. The winner of this season apparently is a country singer. When he got on stage, quite a few of my co-workers leaned over and said "I'm now a country fan." My co-worker's little girl, who is 2-years-old, started to blow him kisses, followed by a mournful cry as he walked off stage. She is too cute for words.

We made it up to Logan this Saturday to visit the Hunsaker's as well as my good friend, Jamie. I always love going to the Hunsaker's and seeing how they keep such peace in their home of 10 children. Jamie and her beau took us to the "A" on Utah State's campus. Apparently, if one kisses someone during certain circumstances on this "A" they gain the title of a "True Aggie," or something along those lines. We just went for fun and believe in our hearts that we became "True Aggies."

Other than that, we have been enjoying the thunderstorms, Andy Griffith and preparing for Colorado/Dallin's 25th birthday in two weeks. He is already suffering memory loss as he just stated, "I don't ever remember turning 23...." He also stuck a wooden spoon in the blender this morning to stir his smoothie, while the blender was on. This made for a splintery smoothie.
