What better way to celebrate America than to load up the Spud and take a road trip to Colorado for the weekend? Nothing screams the American Dream quite like driving across Wyoming for 8 hours.
We left Wednesday morning, drove to Larmie, stayed with family, then continued the trek to Broomfield. Made it a little less exhausting. Luke was not too much of fan of the sun in his eyes as the poor kid was facing west just as the sun was taking its long decent behind the horizon.

While in Colorado, we visited with grandma D, great papa and mama Baldwin and enjoyed the slow life of Broomfield.

While visiting with grandma on her porch one night, her neighbor's grandkids thought Dallin looked enticing enough to come visit with us. They were quite funny as they told us all about their favorite restaurants, their crush on "Stella," and just about life. I almost won a frozen yogurt out of the conversation. Next time, little 5-year-old...next time.
Terri took us to the Denver Botanical Gardens while we were visiting to see the Chihuly exhibit that was on display there. For those that don't know (which included us before this exhibit), Chihuly is a glass blower that makes crazy glass creations. Just look at the pictures!

The drive back was gorgeous. We were heading West so we got to see an amazing sunset, unobstructed by buildings or smog. Luke's favorite part of the trip back was the travel center where we got gas. So. Many. TRUCKS!

We always love our visits to Colorado. Even if now with a child we feel like we need a vacation to recover from our vacation!
Happy Fourth!
