Dallin was a champ and would shovel walkways for Caleb to walk in since he is not a huge fan of the cold whiteness. He did warm up to the snow, however, once he realized how yummy it tasted.
The boys got gift-cards to Target from Christmas. We went a week after Christmas to pick out goodies, finding that the Target by our house has an AMAZING selection of toy clearance after Christmas. Luke found this garbage truck that "eats" cars and is loud as can be, but makes boys laugh, for $11, originally $50. He was pretty excited, I was pretty excited the batteries don't last long....
We also got to watch Parker and Ellie one night while their parents went to see The Greatest Showman (which is our movie of the year, by far!). If I had two more kiddos just like them, I would not complain. We absolutely love having the Evans around.
A few weeks into the new year, Caleb got sick and I kept having the thought, "He has strep," but without his tonsils, it is hard to tell for sure. I started praying that if he had strep, we would know, without a doubt. Within a few days, ALL of us were in InstaCare getting diagnosed with strep throat. Never say God doesn't answer prayers!
Once we all recovered from that, we layed low for a week, until we headed to Colorado to celebrate my grandma Dunning's life. On the 24th, my sweet grandma passed away. She has been getting weaker and weaker every month the past year and finally passed through the veil after being in hospice for a couple of days due to stroke. My sweet mama flew down immediately after her stroke and got to spend her last few hours with her, bringing comfort to both of them.
We joined my mama for the week leading up to the funeral to help preapre, as well as clean out grandma's house. It was a slurry of emotions as we delved into piles of memories from the past 50 years that she has lived in the house and saying good bye to a home that is very much a part of my childhood and growing up.
The funeral was lovely, filled with people who were touched by the unwavering love my grandma offered all, even if she didn't like them very much. They never felt that, because she just loved them. We got to see the Montana Dunnings and my Uncle Brad's family, whom I haven't seen since I was probably 11 or 12-years-old. Funny how death brings everyone together. Grandma Dunning is an amazing woman and I know she is just loving having her sweetheart back, as well as her babies.
While cleaning, Katy and Kevin watched the boys for a day, which they had way more fun with them they would have with us. They also spent a day with grandma Bev and Terri, building Legos, going to the park and just being spoiled all around.
We were blessed to get her piano and dresser and coffee table. She helped class up our home a bit, not to mention I hear her voice often as the boys are climbing on the table, "You're letting them stand on my table?"
The drive home was gorgeous. God did not hold back from painting a beautiful canvas for us as we traveled through extremely windy Wyoming with a moving truck full of heirlooms for everyone!
The rest of January was spent staying warm (even though it was quite a warm January), enjoying our newfoud favorite breakfast food, German Pancakes, Luke perfecting his photography skills and his circut board, having our dryer vent cleaned out (it was pretty gross) and enjoying preschool (shaving cream!).
