We started out 2019 with some vision boards fort things we want to happen in 2019. The boys had fun coming up with ideas and creating their boards, which are now proudly hanging in their rooms. Luke's included: ride his big bike, learn the piano and gain a testimony of prayer. Caleb's consisted of talking, learning to ride the balance bike and learning to trace.
Dallin and I had good conversation about what and how we would accomplish the goals we put on our boards. Overall, it was a good evening!
Caleb started going to the Sunbeam class in January. His nursery teacher got to move up with him and a few of his friends from nursery. So far, he loves going and being in the same room as Luke for singing time and is just the cutest thing with his little legs dangling in the already tiny chairs.
Grandma and grandpa joined us on an impromptu trip the ice castles in Midway in order to escape the inversion. There is such a liberating feeling when you finally are above the yuck, filled with sunshine and blue skies!
Luke was in heaven, exploring every nook and cranny. Caleb...not as much of a fan. He really is not a fan of the cold and would try to have fun, but then get the biggest frown because he got ice or snow somewhere that was not covered by his clothing.
Dallin took the boys up to McCammon to explore grandpa's new snow mobiles. They enjoyed the adventure, made robot snowmen and got spoiled with cereal and chocolate milk. Luke discovered the magic of the landline and was smart enough to figure out how to dial my number. I got at least 5 calls an hour from him until they hid the phone.
For a Lukey-daddy day, the two discovered Bricks and Figs; a consignment shop for all things Legos. They happened to go on National Lego Day and had a good time digging through giant bins of Legos, creating master-builder status designs. Luke even talked Dallin into getting him a Lloyd figurine, fueling his Ninjago obsession.
Park City Resorts offered an Epic Kids Ski pass for kids ages 5-8-years-old. We got Luke one, which included a free all day lesson and rentals. Dallin got his work passes and the two of them played hookie from work and school to enjoy some time on the slopes. Luke LOVED his ski lesson and is constantly asking us when he gets to go back. He came home at 4, had a little exhaustion/dehydration headache and was asleep by 5:30pm. The kid slept until 6:30 the next morning. We finally found an activity that utilizes all of his energy! Now, to find ways to get him back on the slopes to improve his skills.
Nana renewed Luke's Kiwi Crate subscription for another 6-months. He could not be more excited about this! Every day we get the mail, he states, "I sure hope I get a Kiwi Crate today! Even if he just got one the day before. They are good for his curious little brain.
The rest of January was filled with frosties to make us feel like it is summertime, weekend adventures with the Kindergarten class "pet," Lucky, crocheting projects, naughty puppies who don't think they should be alone, ever, and fresh air whenever the weather permitted. We survived January!
