May 2019: "When You Focus on the Good, the Good Gets Better"

Majority of May was spent loving on baby Aida and getting used to being a family of FIVE! The boys are obsessed with her and the sweetest big brothers. They fight over who gets to hold her and lay right next to her. We were blessed to have Lauren, my mom and Terri come the last three weeks of May to help out. They were angels who cooked, clean, took kids to school, took the dog on walks and got us all out of the house. I can't thank them enough for all their help while I healed and Aida and I got into a good nursing groove.

Luke started  May with a slightly sore throat, which we didn't think much of because it was over in a day or two. However, about a week later, Dallin, Caleb and I all had strep. Turns out Luke is one of those lucky ones that doesn't get strong symptoms of strep, but passes it on to everyone. Because of how subtle the symptoms are in both boys, it took us one month and two rounds of antibiotics to get rid of it. We all got it twice, including on my birthday and Mother's Day. I don't recommend having strep while recovering from birth and loving on a newborn. Luckily, Aida didn't get it and we are all finally strep free!

For my birthday, the boys got me some garden boxes. Dallin's brother, Jared, brought over some nice dirt for them, as well as some seeds. Dallin got them all nice and planted and protected from Augie with some chicken wire. Augie left it alone for 3 weeks! Then, we fertilized it...that night Augie went on a digging rampage and dug up BOTH garden boxes, flinging the seedlings and tomato plants all over the yard. Dallin did his best to replant everything and now we keep our fingers crossed something survives!

Jared also brought all his water jugs to fill at the local well...



While nana was here, we went up to Snowbird. There was still plenty of snow, but the boys had fun. We got to see a sweet couple having their wedding reception at the summit (wish I could see those photos! They looked dreamy), played in the snow and froze our little tushies off. There was a very punctual employee working the gondola who left the second the minute hand hit the departure time. We missed the ride TWICE! Once, because we just barely got there a minute after the scheduled time and the second time because Caleb had a poop emergency that got us back literally 30 seconds after the time. Luckily, we had live music and other kids to run around with while we waited, and finally made our third attempt. It was nice to get out of the house and go on a little adventure. Aida just snuggled int he wrap on Dallin's chest and slept the WHOLE time.

Caleb wrapped up his first year of Preschool at J.A. Taylor with Ms. Sydni and Ms. W. He was so excited to go to school each Tuesday and Thursday morning. They had a little award ceremony during which he earned the award of "Super Smile" because he always had a smile for everyone.

Lukey-boy also wrapped up his Kindergarten year with Mrs. Christensen at J.A. Taylor. They had a cute little singing program and a slideshow of the year. He has learned to read so well, loves BeyBlades and Ninjago and is always eager to make new friends. On his last day, they had a field day with a fun run. It was HOT, but he was a champ and ran 8 laps after playing a bunch of field games. His choice of places to eat after his little program was Carl's Jr. We tried it. He was not a huge fan because they put mustard on their burgers and we are not complaining that we won't have to try to convince to eat somewhere else.

Our neighborhood had their annual end of school carnival. Caleb was at the doctor with Dallin (getting his second round of antibiotics) so, Luke, Terri, Aida and I enjoyed the carnival. Luke's favorite attraction was there, which he giggled on with the best laugh he has, brining giggles to all within hearing distance. He challenged me to a donut eating contest, he consumed 3-4 sno-cones, got his face painted like a robot Ninjago which turned out looking like he was a special ops agent and fun was had all around.

We explored a new park in Kaysville, which the boys loved! There were tons of things for them to climb and scale and swing upon. We lost them a few times due to the size of the park and all the hiding places, but all returned safely and had a good time.

And with that, we welcomed summer! Aida turned 1-month and we honestly can't imagine our family wihtout her. She is such a sweet babe and we all love on her any chance we get.
