Fall came upon us...which meant we got to start doing fall like things. I got my hands on an Amazon gift card and wanted to spend it on something different. So, we got an ice-cream maker. I did a whole ton of research on the topic and picked the one with the best reviews. A few days later we were making our own fresh ice-cream. Our first batch came out pretty good. It was a chocolate peanut butter concoction which meant the 2 liters it made lasted us a grand total of 4 days. The second batch was chocolate mint. I followed the directions to a T but it still came out a bit soupy. Not the best. I decided that our freezer wasn't cold enough to freeze the mixing bowl thoroughly, so the next batch we make I'll crank up the freezer and give that mixing bowl a solid 8 full hours.

We ventured up to Paradise UT to go apple picking at an orchard. Once we got up there it started to pour down rain. The boys and I ran to the nearby barn for cover while Kelli fed Aida in the car. We waited out the rain with some apple cider doughnuts and hot coco. Both were delicious and worth the drive.
After the rain let up we zipped up our coats and picked some apples! We got plenty wet but we also got plenty of apples. Luke and Caleb were sure to step in every puddle out there and we couldn't leave the orchard until we used the sweet looking apple tree reacher picker thing...
Our local fire station got revamped so they had an open house for all to come and see. We thought the boys would enjoy it and sure enough they did. They both got to spray the road cone with a fire hose, and Luke did an obstacle course where he had to drag a "body" out of danger and crawl through some tunnels. They were also educated on how to properly use a fire extinguisher as well as witness a landing from a rescue helicopter.
Danny and Jason graced us with their presence as they came back from the yearly hunting trip in Idaho. We took them to a new favorite dinner spot of ours, Slapfish. It is a fish and chips place where they give you massive portions and ghost pepper hot sauce. One of our favorite places.

Luke had told Kelli one day that he sits alllll by himself next to the door, with only 2 oher kids him. She asked him to draw a map of his classroom set up. This is what he drew (he is the set of 3 lone desk in bottom cornor; his teacher is the stick figure and the squares are the rest of the students):
After having 2 other kiddos draw a map of the class and talking with his teacher, we learned a valuable lesson in perception. He does not sit alone with 3 other kids, the are all integrated in the group, but he was only focusing on the 2 that sat on either side of him. It was pretty amazing to see all the different drawings that the kiddos made of the same class set up!
Caleb started his second year of preschool! He was beyond excited to go to school, and even more excited when he discovered one of his good friends, Halle, was in his class. He asks to go to school on a daily basis and is upset when we say "No school today."
