February greeted us with a fresh dumping of snow. Don't worry; School didn't get cancelled. It's Utah, guys. Come on. School is never cancelled. Luke thought it was so funny that half his body was covered when he jumped into the snow, Caleb was intimidated that the snow was almost taller than he was and we all bundled up and walked to school, praying our children wouldn't get lost in the snowy abyss at recess.
A lot of February was spent gathering research, resources and working with our special education advocate to prepare for Caleb's IEP in March. We found out from his preschool teacher that the plan was to put him a self-contained classroom, which is out of the question knowing what Caleb is capable of and our goals for him (his peers seeing him as a valuable member of the community and him seeing his peers as valuable members in his life and learning to work together). It has been a full time job getting ready to advocate for our Caleb-bug. Due to this, Luke has spent a lot of time Legoing, including continuing on with the Mindstorm. He was so proud of himself for building the complete robot. It took a lot of tears and frustrated moments, but he persevered and completed the goal he set his mind on achieving.
One evening, Luke was wearing jammy pants he had inside out as well as a blue shirt he has inside out. He then set up a "Sonic Park" in his room and the inside out clothes were his Sonic Park guide attire. The experience came compete with a key card entry and Avant garde "S-O-N-I-C." The whole experience was quite creative and enjoyable.
Aida has hated baths since she was born. I mean, big tear crying the entire time we bathe her. We tried the baby bath, we tried toys of all sorts, baths with her favorite brother, singing...all the tricks. Thus, I turned to Pinterest and the first thing that popped up was to put the kiddo in a laundry basket in the tub with all their fun toys. I thought, "No way," but was willing to try anything. Spoiler alert: Worked. Like. A. Charm. Happiest little bath baby to match her happy self the rest of the day. P.S. She is kind of a mama's girl...
Nana came to visit for a few days over President's Day/Valentine's Day weekend. We took her to Antelope Island where we witnessed people ignoring all the warnings about Bison. We thought for sure we were going to witness a Bison charging an over curious pedestrian with a camera. Luckily, no accidents occurred and we were able to safely make it back home without extra dents in the car.
February was another much needed calmer month in terms of outings and activities. Love these funny kiddos of ours and the time we get to spend with them.
Last story: We lost Caleb in Costco (we are working on him not wandering away in public. It's a work in progress for our super social buddy). We literally turned around within a second of seeing him right behind us in the middle of the aisle, to him being nowhere in sight. Dallin went running down one end of the aisle, I went the other way, only to not find any trace of him. My gut told me to go back down the aisle because he is fast, but not THAT fast. To my pleasant surprise, I found our little stowaway hiding among the crackers and Coconut cookies. The kid keeps us on our toes.
Farewell to February, hello to March! Luke's face watching Lego Masters smash their amazing designs adequately shows the month to come.
