The Story

I know you have all been waiting to hear the story.  Some may have even lost sleep, just wondering "How in the world did the proposal happen?!?!" Well, you can all rest easy now that we have finally gotten it together to share the proposal story.

Mid-October
Dallin calls daddy Baldwin with the age old question of whether or not he gives him his "blessing" to marry his daughter.  After a friendly conversation (and some comments about how stubborn Kelli is) daddy B told Dallin congratulations and that he was happy for us.  Step one: check.

Day after Mid-October
A order is put in for 400 pink balloons.  Step two: check.

November 11
Kelli is enjoying her Vetran's day off, thinking Dallin is working hard at school. Unbeknowest to her, he is around the corner at her neighbor's apartment filling up the 400 pink balloons with his brothers and neighbors.  Lucky for him, she didn't decided to visit her neighbors.   Step 3: check.

November 12
While Kelli is working away, Dallin is filling her room with the 400 pink balloons, texting her to see if an earlier movie time would work better for their date that night.  She, of course, says the later one is better so that she can do some errands and shower after work.  Little did she know, he was probably cursing under his breath that she was not going to be home sooner seeing as he was laying under the 400 balloons in her room.  After 2 hours of Dallin patiently laying under the pink cloud of latex,  Kelli finally returns home to find a note on her bedroom door reading "Be gentle" with a safety pin attached to it.  She attempts to open the door, but can't due to the balloons.  Her first thoughts: take a picture to send to mom; this is sweet but a little over the top for a "I love you" thing that Dallin does every once in awhile; how in the world do I get into my room?!?!  That last one was shortly followed by the lightbulb realization that there was a safety pin on her door.  So, she started popping.  As she popped, someone popped out and scared her  half to death; she kept popping.  After Dallin finally got her to stop, he got down on one knee, held out a balloon and asked her to pop it (she is still thinking this is just an "I love you" thing).  However, inside the balloon was her ring, followed by a simple, "Will you marry me."  The rest is history.

Lots of balloons

Welp, there it is.  We are very excited and have set the date for the reception and ceremony for March 12, 2011 in Napa.

Other than that, life has been about the same.  We saw Harry Potter 7 last night and both agreed it felt like a 2 hour trailer, but it was good!  We also got 8 inches of snow last night.  Always pretty to watch if you you are not driving in it.  On Wednesday we head out to San Luis Obispo to spend Thanksgiving with the Green family.  Should be a nice little break!

All our love and gratitude, Happy Thanksgiving!
