A Green Thanksgiving

96 days until I'm an official Green!  For practice,  I got to spend a little time with the Green's over Thanksgiving.  We drove into Atascadero (by San Luis Obispo) Wednesday night, leaving behind a snow filled Utah to enter a gorgeous San Luis Obispo county with rolling hills of beauty and air that you can breath without feeling as though you just took a breath of smog.  Needless to say, it felt good to be back in SLO.  The road trip was long and eventful as we wondered whether or not Dallin's car would start at each gas fill-up, seeing as his car battery was on its last hurrah.  In southern Nevada (not the safest place to be) we had the experience of asking a fellow in a yellow car with some pretty spiffy rims to give us a jump.  His response, "I'm in a rush, man but, yeah man, sure...Happy Holidays, man."  He was a kind soul.

The first item of business to take care of in SLO: wash Dallin's car (no, not get a new battery, although that was the logical thing to do).  He was not too happy with the makeover the salt on the Utah roads gave to his car.  His little niece and nephew were kind enough to help us out, making the car washing a bit more fun.  We then enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with the family.

The rest of the visit was spent relaxing, getting engagement pictures taken in Santa Barbara due to rain in SLO, the only rainy and cloudy day we were there was the day we were to have our pictures taken. Typical, right?  However, we had fun taking them while literally outrunning the rainstorm by minutes.  Our trip back to Utah was long; 18 hours of snow covered roads and traffic, but we made it and are still planning on getting married.

Upon returning, we got right back into jobs, school and planning the wedding.  We went apartment searching yesterday...oh boy.  There are some scary places to live out there! 

Now, for some exciting new news!  I got a new job, which I will be starting January 3rd, as a preschool teacher up at the University of Utah.  This job offers many more benefits than my current job, and it will be interesting/fun to work with mostly neurotypical kids, instead of ALL behavior children.   I will miss my current clients greatly, but I feel this is the best move to make and that it will benefit us in the long run.  Woot!

We wish everyone happy present hunting, and to remember that this is "the most wonderful time of the year" not because of all the gifts, but because it is a time when we are reminded about why we are here, the "meaning to life" if you will!  Try not to let the traffic, continuous Christmas carols, and grumpy shoppers get to you, but try to serve and love.  We are and it is amazing the feeling you get!
