We started our Halloween festivities with a visit to the pumpkin walk in Logan. We loaded our car with Suzi and Tyson and headed up through Sardine Canyon to join the lovely Jamie, her better half, Matt and Danny-boy, who is now living in Logan. Always nice having family closer.
Before we get into the pumpkin walk, a little story. As we entered Logan, our tummies were rumbling. I remembered that McDonald's was doing their Monopoly shin-dig which inspired us all to do a quick detour to the McDonald's drive through for some grub. As we received our items, which we strategically ordered with the intent of getting the most Monopoly pieces we could, thus increasing our chances of winning, our dreams were squished when we noticed that not one single item we ordered had a Monopoly piece. Dallin kindly asked the man in the window where our game pieces were to which we received the reply, "We ran out." You ran out? Fury, shock and disappointment quickly built as we plotted ways we could sabotage the McDonald's at the entrance of Logan off Highway 91 who"ran out" of the much anticipated Monopoly game pieces-the sole reason we chose to go to McDonald's. I personally think he was lying to us... However, we ate our food and carried on with the rest of our night. Now, for the ironic part. This past weekend, the McDonald's where we usually get our after temple mcFlurry had a shooting Thursday afternoon, and the drive through at the one down the street from us burst into flames Saturday morning when an old truck caught on fire while going through...karma? I think so...

Now, onto the pumpkin walk. People are incredibly creative in what they come up with for this event. Some of our favorites were the Nightmare Before Christmas display, Despicable Me and Calvin and Hobbes. Seriously, people are unbelievably crafty. Enjoy the pictures from the night that ended with a young man losing his "pumpkin guts" in the middle of the event while his mother shouted, "We are NOT taking the bus!" to her bewildered husband. Always something exciting.

Saturday, we went to the Jason Aldean concert with Chris Young as the opening act. Love that man. After he performed, our affection for him grew even stronger which resulted in me stalking him through Jason's performance with Dallin's telephoto lens. Hopefully that does not sound weird, but I was impressed that he came out and watched Jason when you know he has seen the show a few times. All in all, it was good time especially with the completely Jason twitterpatted fans in front of us, who I think should have been hired as his backup dancers with the interpretive moves they were busting out for each song.

The following night we met up with Summer and Darrell for the Haunted Village. This did not disappoint last year, nor did it this year. Just the right amount of spooky with gilly suited grassmen stalking Darell, and crazy mental patients singing creepily along with a gravedigger who "Likes anything shiny..." Dallin will say he was quite impressed with how well I faced my fears through the village of fright. Personally, I was pretending to be brave so that the creeps would get bored trying to scare me by doing the stare and follow thing they LOVE to exercise on the squeal and hide patrons.

Saturday, we babysat my old co-teacher's cute little 2-year-old. We took her to the trick-or-treat fun at Hogle Zoo. Two words: Mad House. She was more impressed with the animals walking around than she was with the animals in the cages. Her goal was to follow Snow White through the whole park...until she saw Cinderella. The experience was a good one as well as made us ponder if we would be bad parents because we would not wait in extremely long lines for ONE piece of candy...just did not seem worth the wait when the child could care less if she got a tootsie roll or not. We decided it would not make us a bad parents.
For Halloween, we have no plans other than handing out candy at the great aunt's whom we are house/dogsitting for again. Maybe I'll bust out the makeup and dress Dallin up as a creepy, crazy skeleton man to scare the poor things. Maybe even get a little crazy and watch a scary movie from my second cousin's video store size movie collection. On the night of the dead, who knows what craziness will occur!
Happy Halloween! Welcome November. We love you all.
