Let's start with the exciting, but not necessarily entertaining, news. I have decided to tackle an item on my bucket list, which would be to run a 5k and a 10k. Not quite zealous enough, or crazy depending on how one may look at it, to tackle a half marathon. Whenever I think of a half marathon, my mind wanders back to when my dad decided to run one himself a few years back. We all went to cheer him on along the sidelines which was great fun, a little chilly, but exciting nonetheless, until we got towards the end of the race. At this point, the hardcore runners in front who had been doing the whole marathon began wetting themselves (along with other no need to mention fluids) which is not a sight young ones need to see. That, combined with my dad's running wounds on his nipples from where the safety pins which held on his number rubbed him raw, has permanently scarred me from running anything more than a 10k. Sorry if that was a little too much information. It is true what they say when images are VERY hard to erase from the mind's database. Anyway, let the training begin!
This past weekend, we were finally able to go to Boulder, Utah with Will and Tiffany, Dallin's cousins, to stay for the weekend at Tiffany's family cabin. We drove through a bunch of small, middle of nowhere towns that reminded us of Mayberry, as well as made us a little jealous of the people who lived in these towns without all the distractions of a city. We decided, if possible, we do not want to permanently reside in a city when the time comes to buy a house.
Getting back to the weekend in Boulder, we loved this south Utah treasure of a place. On Saturday, we hiked to the Calf Creek Falls which were amazing to say the least. On the hike, we went through red rocks, forest-like scenery and ancient petroglyphs which all led us to the waterfalls. Simply amazing that such a variety of landscape can be in such a short distance, not one inch more beautiful than the rest.

That night, we played our new favorite game, Quelf. Our buddies Suzi and Tyson introduced this clever boardgame to us a few weeks ago which left quite an impression on us. Thus, before we headed up to the cabin, we felt justified in buying Quelf. Tiffany and Will also loved the game. Seriously. If you do not have fun playing this game, you hate fun.

Sunday, we took a scenic drive through a marvelous canyon. Just let the pictures that do not do it justice give you an idea of how magnificent of an artist God truely is.

On our way back to the cabin, we noticed the person in front of us had a flat tire. Tiffany and Will being the kind people they are, pulled up next to them to inform them of their situation, which resulted in 45 minutes of Dallin and Will putting on the spare tire of this truck full of older ladies. They were quite interesting to talk to! These ladies were from Arizona, Germany and Philadelphia who had got together to take a road trip through Utah's wonders. They had been traveling for just a week and had already been to Moab, Park City, Salt Lake, National Reef Park and Boulder. Talk about a road trip. The boys put their heads together to figure out the mechanics of how the spare was anchored to the bottom of the truck along with how to complete the task at hand and we were all on our way. Good way to honor the Sabbath with service.

Back in the real world, we can't complain. My first week at the new job was quite wonderful and has reminded me just how much I love the behavior line of work. Dallin has midterms this week which has kept him busy studying. This Saturday we get to see the much anticipated Jason Aldean along with a possible visit to the Haunted Village at This is the Place Heritage Park. Very excited for that (the concert, at least...)!
