On the Fifth Day of Christmas...

...The Green's brought to you a new blog post! We know, we know, just what you always wanted.  We work with Santa.

We have just been busy little elves the past few weeks with Dallin's finals, work, finishing up Christmas shopping, and braving the masses at the post office.  We have to admit that we were one of "those" people at the post office the last two times we went.  Apparently my brain has decided to stop working, including the minuet detail of taping a box before getting to the post office.  BOTH times we went last week we held up the line at the teller station taping our boxes.  Well, first deciding between priority or parcel and THEN buying tape and THEN taping them...I am sure we spread much Christmas cheer to those waiting in line to mail their packages.
If he was at our post office, he would complaining on that phone about us

Two weekends ago, we saw a news special on the Dicken's Festival in downtown Salt Lake.  Now, the news anchor, Casey, who does these new specials on channel 2 news is hilarious.  We watch every morning just to see him.  This particular Friday, he was down at the Dicken's Festival waking up Santa.  This Santa made us believers that Santa is real.  He was THAT good.  This got us excited to experience the Dicken's Festival for ourselves, mainly to meet Santa.  Yes, we are in our mid twenties...  So, that night we went down to the fair grounds, visited all the little booths that people had set up selling their products (made some good friends with the salt scrub people and the dip people), then made our way to Santa's  headquarters.  I was as giddy as a school kid about getting to meet this awesome Santa.  We were standing in line to meet him when we noticed a "No Cameras" sign.  We thought, "Okay.  We can still meet Santa."  We then realized that we had to be buying one of the organizations photos that they take in order to meet Santa.  Since when does having to buy pictures have precedence over making a child's dream of meeting Santa come true?!?! Boy were we bummed!  I guess we will have to find another way to meet the Dicken's Santa...  But for now click HERE to see him, courtesy of 2 News.

On Saturday, we went to the Lehmitz side family Christmas party.  As we got settled into our chairs in our cozy pajamas, we found Hailey, but no Jared.  It was not until I realized Hailey was dresssed as Max (the dog from the Grinch) that we realized Jared was probably going to be the Grinch.  Hailey kept saying he was just running late and had to do some things before coming, but we all know sweet Hailey is not that great of a liar.  Sure enough, as "You're a Mean One" came on, Jared comes out dressed as the Grinch, handing out coal and arrest notices.  He was quite good at this and brought cheer to all.  I guess I should add that the theme of the party was Whooville so that no one thinks we are just a bunch of Grinches.  Anyway, we got our picture with the Grinch seeing as we did not get one with the completely legit Santa the night before.

Last week, we met up with Tyson and Suzi to finally use our first Groupon voucher for ice skating at the Gallivan Center.  What a neat experience!  They had the area all lit up, music playing (Christmas over the speakers at first, then some band named Anberlin that Tyson and Dallin were ecstatic over playing live on the stage),  hot chocolate and just plain fun.  We really enjoyed our time there and decided that people might think we (Dallin and his skating technique) are a little weird, but at least we entertain others.

Woot, Woot!

We also were able to go to a ugly sweater Christmas party which allowed us to make some sweaters.  If you like, we will make some for you too because we know that they are pretty awesome (cough, cough).

Oh Christmas Tree
Ho, Ho, Ho!
That is about all for now.  Dallin is attempting cake balls at the moment to bring into work next week.  He does not want ANY help...  He made some delicious toffee last night, and we made some fudge (which I FINALLY got to set, after 3 years of attempts), along with sugar cookie dough - waiting to find some cookie cutters to make the actual cookies.
SUCCESS!
Enjoy your week before Christmas.  Go out and serve someone.  I promise it will make the holidays more enjoyable!
