Rocky Mountain High

Over Labor Day, we snatched some plane tickets at prices we just could not say no to and flew down to Colorado to visit the Dunnings and Baldwins.

Terri picked us up at the airport and then took us to Douglas County to hike up to the Devil's Head Lookout.  The trail was filled with aspens, boulders and views that made you take a deep breath of awe because if you didn't, you would be offending the Big Guy.

Once we got to the top of the hill, we were greeted with 143 stairs, which I will gladly take over the rickety looking ladder that used to occupy the place the stairs are now built.  We climbed the top and were greeted by a friendly ranger, who lives at the base of the stairs in a little cabin and makes the climb to the lookout every day.  My question: What does the poor guy do when he has to go to the bathroom?  We also discovered at the top that a 96-year-old woman does the whole climb to Devil's Head every year.  All I can say to that is, "You go Glen-Co-Co!"

And then took a nap on our way to lunch-4 hours of sleep is not enough...

That night, Dallin got to attend his first ever MLB game.  Although it was the Rockies, who are not know for being amazing on the baseball diamond, the experience was everything he hoped it would be.  He got a ball park brat, gifts at the entrance gate, a little rain, a crowd wave that went around a good five times before dying down, a grand slam and a win for the home team.  Can't complain!

stop pedaling.

The rest of the weekend was enjoyed spending time with the grandparents and visit from some of the Bruce clan.  Always nice getting to catch up with all of them.   Colorado is always an enjoyable trip, filled with lots of memories.

Now, we are planning a getaway to New York in October to visit the city and the Senelick's, followed by a trip home in December for Christmas.  Travel while we can, right?!?!
