So Long Lovely Summer

Here in Utah, school has started, which means summer is over.  Why doesn't winter seem to go as quickly as the summer?

Dallin started his last semester at University of Utah.  Can I get a "Hallelujah!"  Getting this Bachelor's has been a long road with him working full time.  Nevertheless, we have survived and have had a good time along the way. We are not quite sure what the plan is come December, but we will keep you posted.

We stayed busy this past month.  Luke and Dallin had a couple of daddy-son days which gave me a day to regroup so that I was not a screaming banshee mom/wife. The first one, they went on a hike up Timpanogas Mountain then to the Natural History museum.  The second day out, they visited the Natural History museum again and visited the Lehmitz fam down on the farm.

While they were out, this happened:

I'm a little obsessed with reupholstering...and pattern mixing.  How many times can you be destructive and productive AND creative, at the same time?!  It's a great stress reliever.

We also took a trip to Hogle Zoo where Spud was very excited to see the elephants, gorillas and the seals.  Mainly because they were the only animals that were not sleeping and depressed looking.

He also got a haircut that day!  His baby scraggly hair was giving him a permanent orphan child look, so we snipped it up.  Locked him in his booster seat, turned on "Jake and the Neverland Pirates," (he never watches TV so this was exciting) and gave him some fruit snacks to keep his hands busy.  He still fought us like crazy, but parents won and he now looks like a little boy that is raised by humans, not wolves.

We have been getting A LOT of rain here in Salt Lake, which makes A LOT of puddles.  Luke loves to stand in and scream at the rain then splash in all the puddles.  Not quite sure what the screaming is about, but whatever floats his boat.



Dallin has been getting quite creative with dates on a budget.  We have to get creative since we do not have much family out here who will come hang out with Luke and we are cheap-wads that don't like paying babysitters to come eat our food and watch our tv while Spud sleeps.  Some of his ideas (that we sadly did not document) have included S'mores in the backyard and yoga night.  He has an "assistant" name "Toni" who sends me emails scheduling the dates.  If you remember, Toni made his grand debut about 3 years ago as our waiter.  Apparently, Dallin liked his service so much that he hired him as a personal assistant.  Love the kid.
