Wreck-it Ruke...We Survived September!

Even though Luke might be afraid of the slide and the swings (apparently, Dallin was a cautious child), this little 21 LB ball of energy amazes me everyday at the amount of destruction he can create. I have renewed faith every single day that a minimum of 3 angels are constantly protecting Spud from falling, bumping, tripping...any kind of movement including laying down that could lead to an imminent doom or accident. I have this image in my head of people dressed in padded suits in a circle around my child. Thank you, guardian angels, for protecting my son!

Onto the shennanigans we have been engaging in. Luke's language has been exploding, which is so much fun as he tries to mimic every word/phrase we say, including "Leroy Brown" which is what I call him when he is getting into something he shouldn't. Racist? Maybe. Mostly it's just what comes out. Works for his father, too. Some of our other favorite words that he says are cookie ("Ckch-ee"), Broncos ("Bra-chk-o), banana ("Nananana"), thank you ("Da doo"), story ("Door-ee") and bug ("Baag. EEEH!").

We have been enjoying the unusually warm fall weather by playing outside, going to Wheeler Farm, playing with neighbors, picking apples and going on lots and LOTS of "walks" up and down our street. Never a dull moment with a 15-month-old.
"You want me to smile? Okay."

Go Broncos!

Dallin and Luke made a trip up to McCammon while grandma and poppa Green were there. I got a phone call with poppa Green saying he's taking the boy back with him. Not quite sure if he meant Dallin or Luke, but I can understand why he would want both. They are both very skilled at charming people. While there, they got to ride in wagons, play in trailers (or "Tractors," as Luke calls them), see the cows, watch the trains and just enjoy the farm life. It gave me a nice weekend to relax and fuel my introverted self by knitting and painting.

So maybe the wagon is not a hit before nap time...

The quads were not a favorite. before nap, either...

My very first oil painting

We made a little visit to the Utah State Fair with some old friends from Napa, whom I had not seen in almost 10 years. Luke loved the animals and we discovered what Erban and Carol are going to do when they are retired in Idaho...

Look at the size of that heffer!

Earlier in the month, we also got to celebrate my great aunt's 92nd birthday. She broke her hip last month, but is recovering nicely and is a spunky as ever. She requested "The Chocoloate Cake," which I really despise making mainly because I am not a fan of baking to begin with, love cooking but not baking, and then this cake is a pain in the derriere, but hey, turning 92 and recovering from a broken hip deserves "The Chocolate Cake."

This past weekend we had General Conference, which is a time we get to hear God's guidance through the voice of His prophets. Ten hours of pure, uplifting, oftentimes humbling messages, not just for those who are Latter-Day Saints, but EVERYONE. It truly is one of my favorite times as these messages give so much hope and faith, day in and day out. If you are interested in what messages God shared through his prophets, visit lds.org General Conference

Anyway, when we were childless, General Conference weekend was always so laid back. Cinnamon rolls, pajamas, maybe a stroll to temple square, cuddles on the couch...Not so much with a child. Let's just say, we heard what we needed to hear and the rest we will study and read. The following picture sums up how Luke enjoyed conference:

Disaster zone!

We started a kid-swap with our neighbors across the street who have a little boy just a couple of weeks younger than Spud. This means that we trade off each week watching the other's child so we can have date night. Watching Spud and his little friend play cracks me up. You can honestly see them joining smarts to get into things that they don't know how to, like how to open the dog crate. Cracks me up. Anyway, this is the photo update we got this past Friday of Luke playing:

People, Dallin graduates December 18th. Can we get a "WOOT WOOT?!" This means that the job/career search is in full swing. Stressed, excited, anxious, grateful, burnt-out; just a few adjectives to describe how we are feeling. Prayers and good vibes are always welcome!

That's about our life for September. We have a quick trip to SLO and some pretty awesome Halloween costumes coming up next month, so get ready for that.

We love you all and hope all are doing well! XoXo

  1. He is so big!! And he is only 6 months older than Nathan! That blows me away! That video made me laugh cause kids really don't like performing, do they?! There are things we always try and get Nathan to do when other people are watching and he will never do it. These boys know what they want, don't they?!
Congrats to your husband on graduating! I am so jealous! Oh, and San Diego is a really great place to look for jobs, just sayin! Luke would have a built in buddy!
