After living in a basement the past 3.5 years, we got incredibly used to it always being cool, which has shown us one con to living above ground. I have been melting, which is a pro for all you because I have been trying to keep myself distracted with low activity level pastimes that I can do under the ceiling fan or swamp cooler. Updating the blog just happens to qualify.
Today marks 36 weeks. That means only four weeks to go! We are all hoping a little early so the child is not ginormous and I don't die of heat exhaustion and wouldn't it just be fun to have a baby on the 4th of July?! Although, since we still are no closer to a name than we were eight months ago, that extra time would be beneficial in that sense. We are open to suggestions!

| Luke's face summarizes how the attempt went |
About a month ago, we set up a big boy bed for Luke to start the transition from crib to bed. He was so excited to pick out sheets for it, "BIG TRUCKS!" of course. We attempted one night to have him sleep in it, which after about 10 minutes of laying like a stiff board he got up and climbed into his crib to fall asleep, we decided he was not ready. Totally fine. Well, about a week ago, after reading before naptime, he asked to sleep in his big bed. I thought, what the heck. The squeaking crib when he jumps on it was driving me bonkers anyway. So, we tried it again. Guys, the kid went to sleep and has been sleeping in his big bed ever since. There have been a couple of times when he has tested us, but overall, he has done pretty well with the transition! Keeping our fingers crossed that it stays that way. It has been an adventure as well to find him in random places when he falls off his bed, or falls asleep attempting to get something from under his bed, or just sleeping like a crazy man. So bittersweet!

The place we spent Memorial Day at, invited us to their kids' birthday party last weekend. Luke was over the moon to get to go back to "Corrie's" and see his girlfriend. Her sister has a little 2-year-old that just follows Luke around, and he doesn't mind the shadow. They are pretty dang cute together. Anyway, he was thrilled to get to jump on the trampoline, splash in a pool, play in the sandbox with the "Big, big trucks," and get a ride in the wagon.

Our poor little garden is still in shock a little from having cool temperatures with monsoon rains then, within 24 hours, 90 degree hot, hot sun. I have been encouraging them every day, but am thinking we have a few casualties. However, old tenants or the landlords or some angel planted a TON of annual strawberries that magically popped up at the beginning of spring. We didn't think much would come of them since we did not do a thing with them. However, these magical miracles have produced TONS of delicious strawberries. We seriously have done NOTHING with them. They are magical.

And now, just some fun photos for your viewing pleasure, and our memory book. For those that don't know, we print our blog each year as a sort of family yearbook aka photo book substitute.

We hope all are staying cool/dry/free from crazy storms depending on where you live. We leave you with this peaceful sunset that I was able to see on a day that I needed a reminder how beautiful this world is. Love you all!
