April started with Easter on April Fool's Day AND General Conference. It was a busy weekend! The boys loved the candy in their Easter baskets and hunting for eggs. Luke was especially excited for the chocolate bunny seeing as on our hunt for Tootsie Roll Eggs all Easter season, he saw many and would oogle at them every time.
We also attended the Lehmitz Easter Annual Easter Party which was filled with more egg hunts, pinata and cousin fun. Luke was dangerous with the bat, Caleb was weary of the Easter bunny. After visiting with the Easter Bunny, Mr Luke leaned over to me and said, "That's just one of his helpers because I can see his socks!" Can't fool him.
A few days after our outing, Kayla was not feeling well, at all. So we went up and took Parker and Ellie on a stroll around the neighborhood for an hour so that Kayla could rest. It was a gorgeous day, Luke found a "nest" to hang out in and there were plenty of ant hills to watch along the way.
The boys and Dallin took a weekend trip up to McCammon to visit grandma and grandpa while I stayed home for a mom break and prepared a talk for church. They were so excited about the new big bed in the newly renovated room that we lived in while we lived there. Luke was also beyond excited to have found an old RC truck and Caleb thoroughly enjoyed his outings on the quad. They also got to watch grandpa burn ditches, have a cook out and just enjoy that fresh McCammon air.
At Antelope Island, papa got to walk down memory lane when we found an old tractor that was just like the one he would drive at the campgrounds in Grand Lake growing up. It was fun to see him get excited about that. We also tried to teach Caleb how to rock climb like Luke, but he was a bit nervous about it which evoked his first, "No, no, no!" We kept putting him on rocks just to hear him say it over and over again. Luke thought we were in space, looking down on earth with the views from the hike and he then informed us when he is 20-years-old, he is going to go into space to get me a star and one of Saturn's rings. He melts my heart with his curiosity and sweetness.
As a Sunday adventure, we took another jaunt up Dual Creek Canyon, with the goal of reaching the rope swing. We were determined. We were excited. We were going to make it this time! However, I forgot to pack food and we got hungry before we got to the swing. Seriously, one day we will make it to the rope swing and we will celebrate big time.
Luke's preschool took a field trip to Cross E Ranch in North Salt Lake for their baby animals. Caleb and I got to join, which I'm so grateful we went. Luke is the animal whisperer. He had no fear around those animals, and they felt that and would let him just love on them. FFA might be in his future. Caleb enjoyed the calves and goats, but was weary around the pig and bunny.
We did round two of swim lessons for the first time since last summer when Luke had me convinced he had drowned in a past life with his fear of putting his head anywhere near the water. This time, we signed him up for the same class as Parker. I must say this was a stroke of genius on our part. Mega mom win. The two of them gave each other confidence and were so silly, they forgot they didn't like putting their head in the water and were both going under water for diving toys by the end of the 4-week session. Kayla and I felt a little bad for their teacher, but he was great with them, matched their energy and used their silliness as motivation to try new skills.

Luke has recently discovered space and is obsessed. We go to the library once a week and he knows exactly where the space section is and will get at least five books. His favorite is Jupiter.
Dallin is trying to teach the boys the Hakka due to inspiration from the movie Moana. Luke is catching on and Caleb just giggles.
I took a self-defense class through RAD with my friend Jamie Glenn. We both decided that with how much we are alone with our kiddos, we need to have some protection. The class was so empowering and I can't wait to go back for refresher courses!
Luke had his Kindergarten Round-up where we learned a little more about Kindergarten next year. Yes....Can you believe it is that time, already?! He is beyond excited. He was so engaged the whole time and Caleb was right there, ready to go, too.
Luke learned how to ride a 2-wheel pedal bike! He was not so sure about it for the longest time, then we put him on a hill (thanks, papa!), and off he went and never looked back. It is one of his favorite things to do, now.
And, as always, enough silliness and imagination to go around! These boys keep us on our toes and help us get our cardio in each day.
