We planted a garden! Our neighbors told us about a community garden at the Episcopal church just up the road a couple of blocks, they had an open plot and we planted our garden. We've gotten lucky with good soil in our past two places, but I'm not so sure about this one. The guy that had the plot before us had a lot of perennial plants. We tilled, but still are seeing a lot of volunteers. We'll see how it goes. We are also right next to a sweet family from Belgium who know all there is to know about gardening, which makes us a little self-conscious. But, we will hopefully learn something and be more successful next year if this year is a complete failure!

Our neighbors had a Tres de Mayo party to celebrate the Cinco de Mayo. They had lots of yummy food, two pinatas, backyard fun and dress up. The boys were in heaven just running around, getting fed and being wild.

With the warm weather, we have been fully enjoying the outdoors. We went hiking up Wild Rose Trail with our neighbors, the Halls. Luke and Ellora were instant friends when we moved in and can play for hours in the back, just having the best of time. We actually hiked the entire loop this time and they still had energy to climb on the jungle gym.

We also made our way up to Snowbird, to ride the tram. There was still snow and skiiers, which was a treat to get to see them loving something so much, they go until the very last bit of snow.

Caleb and I made our way up to North Canyon Trail one day while Luke was at preschool. The weather was perfect, the spring beauty was abundant and we had a wonderful, peaceful stroll until I realized that if something happened to us on this less populated trail with no cell phone reception, no one would know for quite some time. I LOVE to hike and wish I didn't have to worry about things like that! However, what we did get to explore was perfect.

For my birthday, the boys made a delicious trifle, had dinner at Sawadee and a they made me a pinata. Luke kept the pinata a secret until the day of when I asked what we were doing for my birthday. He replied, "I can't tell you but I will because I don't keep secrets from mom. We're making you a pinata!!" It was pretty cute how excited he was. My dad got me a new blender for my birthday, which the boys were quite excited about because that meant we would get to make more smoothies and milkshakes. They know a good gift when they see one!

On Mother's Day, we made our way to temple square for a little stroll to glimpse the last of the flowers. It was a beautiful day!

Lukers finished up swim lessons and passed level 1 swim! He was so excited and had such a great time with Parker.

Space has been the topic of choice this month for the Lukey-babe. He still loves to check out books about every aspect of space and science (especially the ones with experiments in them), learn about the rovers and just space in general. He also loves to tell strangers all about his findings. When we were at Kohl's one day, he spotted a NASA shirt...he has so excited to get it and be an astronaut. We also went to the Clark Planetarium on his last day of school to explore. They added a whole new level that is AMAZING! We got to see what each planet smells like, create clouds, explore black holes, play with thermal heat detection, control rovers on one of Jupiter's moons and learn so much! Definitely one of our favorite museums.

Our ward had a father's-son camp-out at Pineview Reservoir on the 18th and to say Luke had fun would be an understatement. He came back with every inch of clothing he was wearing caked in mud from playing in the lake, participating in the donut-on-a-string game, running around with friends and staying up late chatting away with Dallin. His love of everything in life is infectious.

Luke's last day of preschool was the 24th. Such a bittersweet day! We are so excited for Kindergarten, but to leave Ms. Tiffany at Cove Kids Preschool is quite a tragedy, indeed. She GOT Luke and taught to his strengths and he LOVED her for that. I mean, for their space unit, she created a moon exploration with lights and mattresses to feel more weightless...you can see it in his eyes; pure magic happening. They put on a cute graduation where Luke was so excited, he didn't know how to contain himself, but still sang with gusto a few Spanish songs and other songs they learned throughout the year. We pray with all our hearts his Kindergarten teacher is like Ms. Tiffany and helps Luke learn in the way his brain loves to learn!

Erban and Carol came to town and we got to have a little cookout with the Lehmitz family. Darrell, Carol's brother, took us on a little wagon ride to a place on their property that has a trees that never need watered. He said it is the mystery of the farm where the water comes from, but getting to sit under their cool shade and enjoy a nice dinner was a great start to the summer.

The boys are boys, getting into mischief, but cute as can be doing it; just don't tell them I said that! They have been working together to create some "experiments," which usually include water and toilet paper. Caleb unrolls, Luke fills up and together they destroy. We try to spend a lot of time outside...

Recently, we have discovered the Great British Baking Show. The whole family enjoys watching this little gem and we have learned a lot about baking. Some days, when I'm tired of chasing, we just turn on a little British Baking and snuggle until dad comes home when he can wrestle and tickle-torture and wear them out...

That wraps up May! Lots of excitements for Lukey-boy. He has grown so much in the past year, and his awareness of those around him has exploded. He currently brings home all sorts of plants, puts them in water and tells me he is creating my dream of having a house filled with plants. Be still my heart.
