March 2019: "Of this be sure, you do not find the happy life, you make it" -Thomas S Monson

This little boy has made St Patrick's Day one of our favorite holidays. He is always eager to make traps, often planning a month in advance. We usually don't quite understand his vision until he actually assembles the traps, but he always has a plan of execution to catch those tricky leprechauns. They always make us smile with their clever tricks, which softens the disappointment of not catching one. One year, we might get lucky enough with our little engineer's plans and be able to use the pot o' gold we redeem in exchange for the leprechaun's freedom to move to Hawaii and be beach bums.

To celebrate Dr Suess's birthday, we made green eggs and ham. We used spinach to make the most vibrant green scrambled eggs we ever did see. The boys were weary about the obscure presentation of some of their favorite foods, but ultimately gave in to Sam and tried a bite. I don't think they will eat them anytime, anywhere, but they might in a box with fox.

For a mommy-Lukey date, we went to Brix and Minifigs down in Salt lake, which is a big secondhand Lego store. They have bins of Legos that you can dig through for various parts, or just build creations right there. They also have bins of Lego people parts to find missing parts or new parts for your Lego people. We found new hair for his Emmet, bought a new Ninjago Zane and built multiple creations. These one-on-one dates with Luke are good for all of us.

The 10th marked 32 weeks with little lady. She is quite active and we are all very eager to meet her!

Dallin has deemed Saturday, Costco day. That's right. The busiest day to be at Costco, he has decided we go as a family to fend off the masses for the samples. I admit, as much as I dislike navigating a giant cart through a sea of other giant carts, we do have fun exploring Costco as a family. Caleb even shouts for joy when we say, "It's time to go to Costco!" The simple things.

Can you spot the fugitive?

One particularly sunny, warm day, we took a picnic out to Dallin at work. The boys always love visiting dad at work because they get to feed the ducks and go down the slide in one of his buildings. We only fear them falling into the pond of unknown substances once or twice each visit and question their ability to not fly off the end of the slide a few times. They have fun and it is always renewing to see Dallin in the middle of the day.

For our eighth anniversary, we played it low with dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Spitz, and spent some quality time together. We like to say we are saving up for a big celebration on our 10th anniversary. Hopefully, our family is prepared for our circus of three to hang out with for a week or so while we go on an escapade to New Zealand or Thailand. No matter how we celebrate, we love spending time together to celebrate the day we officially started our family.

My uncle randomly offered us his March Madness NCAA college basketball tickets for the teams playing in Salt Lake. Come to find out, he offered them because he was getting surgery and didn't feel the need to tell us! He seems to be doing okay, slowly recovering, and we enjoyed an afternoon away to cheer for teams we knew nothing about.

The day of the basketball also happened to be World Down Syndrome Awareness Day. We wore our crazy socks, gifted socks to teachers and the males in our family (females were last year), and celebrated all the extra chromosomes in the world. There is so much to celebrate and still so far to go in educating others on the abilities and worth of those who happen to have Down Syndrome. This year, with Caleb in preschool, we felt a little bit more like we could really help others recognize how capable he is; to look past the Trisomy 21 and see Caleb as a little boy with his own strengths and weaknesses. It might be a long road, but hopefully we are blessed with professionals who are willing to help him travel it amazingly along with his peers.

Dallin's quasi eye made a grand return after a 3-year hiatus this month. Poor guy was in so much pain for a good week. I always think he just needs to wear a sign while he has it that says, "It's a cold sore. Yes, it hurts" because he gets asked nonstop what happened. We have been trying to determine what might trigger it, but all the typical triggers for cold sores don't seem to fit when his flares up. Here's to hoping it decides to stay away for a good while, again!

The everyday shenanigans of the month included daily burrito rolls in an attempt to prepare Luke's body for a day of school, KiwiCrate creations, Ruby Snap cookies, playing Trouble constantly (Luke's new favorite game), window crayons, keychain collections, Augie being so confused by other dogs on the tv, good annual orthopedic check ups for Caleb, snuggles and bed graffiti. That last activity was not parent sanctioned, but how can we get mad when what he chose to write is the sweetest graffiti ever to be sharpied on to a bed?

Farewell March! Onto the last month of pregnancy, spring flowers, family reunion and hopefully warmer weather!
