Disneyland, Utah Edition

Since Disneyland in Anaheim is all measly and, you know, worth more than a down payment on a house these days, we found our own amusent part-esque entertainment right here in Utah. If you remember last New Year's Day we stumbled upon the ice castles during our jaunt up to Midway, but did not go inside since we didn't have tickets nor did we want to wait in the line that stretched around the block. Fast forward to 2015. We were thrilled to find out that the ice castles would be back in Midway, despite the rather warm winter! We called up grandma and grandpa Green, bought our tickets online, then made our way up the winter wonderland.

This place was awesome. There was music ("Frozen" instrumental soundtrack, of course), ice slides, slot canyons, tunnels, caves, Elsa and Ana characters, an Olaf and continuous light show to go along with music. I know, you're thinking why would someone ever spend $90 on a Disneyland ticket when they could spend much, MUCH less to go to these ice castles (partly joking). Anyway, we had a lot of fun and Luke was in "Temple Light" heaven.

 The following weekend, Dallin and Luke took a trip up to McCammon to visit grandma and grandpa, as well as give me a little "me" time. I may be less of a mom in some eyes for needing a day to myself every now and again, but to me, these days make me a better mom and help regain perspective and composure. I blame my introverted nature.

 Anyway, these two love their little trips to Idaho. On this one, Luke got to make a fire with grandpa, had his first rice krispy treat, made salsa with grandma and enjoyed the plethora of rocking chairs. Honestly, guys, this kid and rocking chairs is a little bit out of hand. Any chair that is not at a table or a couch, he tries to make into a rocking chair and will just rock and rock and rock. For a kid who didn't like to be rocked as a baby, only bounced, he sure is making up for it now!

Rock all day

The boys brought back some stools that the Greens no longer needed, for my next project. With our nice island, I was really wanting some stools, so this was a wonderful surprise. I've refinished one of the stools, with the second one in the process. Luke loves sitting like a big boy at the island on the stools and being able to help cook, eat his snacks and hang out with the giant adults at their level.

Moral of this story, visit family, go to the ice castles if you ever get the chance, and if you are not a big fan of snowy, cold winters but have found yourself living somewhere with cold, snowy winters, like myself, venture out and find things to help you enjoy the winter season!
